THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BERLIN -- Maria Sharapova has pulled out of next week's German Open because of an unspecified injury. The Australian Open champion has not played since losing to Serena Williams in the quarter-finals of the Family Circle Cup on April 19. In a statement, the third-ranked Russian said she hoped to return "as soon as my body allows me to." World No. 10 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia also withdrew from the clay-court tournament because of a stress fracture in her right foot. That leaves seven of the top 10 players in the world, led by No. 1 Justine Henin of Belgium and defending champion Ana Ivanovic of Serbia, entered in the tournament.
